If you are towing something wider than your car, whether it’s a trailer, a caravan or a horse box, it is a legal requirement to fit towing mirrors.
When a towing mirror is fitted you should be able to see the road alongside and parallel to the widest part of what you are towing.

The drivers field of vision should extend outwards to a width of 4 metres from this line, 20 metres behind the driver.
